A Presence That Changes the Game
At Sports Chaplaincy South Africa (SCZA), chaplains are a steady presence in a fast-moving world. They are not there for the spotlight, the scoreboard or the status. They are there for people.
Chaplains provide pastoral and spiritual care, by invitation, to everyone in a sporting community, regardless of faith or background. From athletes to administrators, from coaches to medical teams, no one is outside their care.
Their approach is simple but powerful:
“Hanging around with intent.”
Building trust. Listening well. Being present when it matters most.
Is Chaplaincy For You?
Sports chaplaincy is for those who:

- Have a heart to serve in a volunteer capacity
- Want to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives
Chaplains typically serve around 9 hours per week, building relationships, attending training and matches, and walking alongside people through both everyday moments and critical life events.
